Hi! Thank you for visiting!
🍑🕯️
I’m Julie Yizhe Hu (she/they), a 2D and 3D entertainment and visual artist for games and illustrated books, with a specialty on sequential art and semi-realistic illustrations for young adult and adult audiences. I hold a BA in Environmental Studies and Visual Arts from Bowdoin College, and a MFA in Design and Technology from Parsons School of Design, The New School.
Through visual storytelling, I combine the sensual, the surreal, and the dramatic to explore how we live, create chaos, and search for meaning in a deeply interconnected world. My recurring themes include the emotional landscape of young people under pressure, the intersections of science, magic, and religion, and the dynamics of beauty and power—often framed through nature-based fantasy and culturally-rooted imagery shaped by my experience as a third-culture Chinese creator.
When I’m not drawing, I enjoy reading, cooking, wearing Lolita fashion, binging drama, and visiting new shops and spots in the city. I’m a big fan of lush, thought-provoking, and high stake stories like Madoka Magica, One Hundred Years of Solitude, The Vegetarian, Doki Doki Literature Club, and SKY Castle.
